U BiH je obavezno korištenje sigurnosnog pojasta na svim sjedištima koja su opremljena pojasom. Na prednjem sjedištu ne smije se prevoziti dijete mlađe od 12 godina. Izuzetno, na prednjem sjedištu može se prevoziti dijete mlađe od 2 godine, ako ne postoji zračni jastuk ili je isključen, a dijete je smješteno u sjedištu okrenutom unazad. Na zadnjem sjedištu djeca do 5 godina moraju biti smještena u sigurnosnoj sjedalici, a djeca od 5 do 12 godina na posebnom podmetaču prilagođenom visini i moraju biti vezana sigurnosnim pojasom u tri tačke vezivanja ili posebnim kopčama u vozilu. Zakon o sigurnosti saobraćaja prema kojem je obavezna upotreba dječijih autosjedalica u vozilu za djecu do 12 godina, stupio je na snagu 2006. godine. Osim ozbiljnih posljedica za sigurnost djeteta, nepoštivanje ovog zakona može uzrokovati i plaćanje novčane kazne od 40,00 KM, a ukoliko prevozite dijete na prednjem sjedištu, ta kazna se povećava i iznosi od 400,00-1000,00 KM
